CBSE Central Sector Scholarship 2025: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a public notice inviting students to apply for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University Students (CSSS) for the academic year 2025–26. The scholarship, sponsored by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, is meant to help bright students from economically weaker backgrounds continue their higher education.
Applications now open online
Students can apply for the scholarship online through the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in. Applications are open for both new applicants and renewals, including those in their 1st year (2024), 2nd year (2023), 3rd year (2022), and 4th year (2021) of study.
The last date to apply for both fresh and renewal scholarships is 31 October 2025.
How much support does the scheme offer?
The CSSS scheme offers financial support to help students with their daily education expenses during their graduation and postgraduation.
CBSE has made it clear that all applications must be verified by the student’s college or university. If required, students must show their original documents to their institution. Without verification, the application will be considered invalid.
The board has also directed Nodal Officers of schools and colleges to complete the verification process promptly. They must use their login on the portal to verify, point out errors, or reject applications when needed.
