CBSE Date Sheet 2025: CBSE announes Class 10 and 12 practical exam dates, check schedule, other guidelines

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the dates for the practical exams for Class 10 and 12 students, starting from January 1, 2025. The theory exams are set to follow from February 15, 2025. This announcement is crucial for students and schools preparing for the upcoming examinations.

In an official notice, the CBSE stated that the practical exams for the 2025 board exams will commence on January 1. These exams are mandatory for both Class 10 and Class 12 students. Schools across the country are required to organize these exams in accordance with the schedule provided. Download official notification here.

For schools in winter-bound regions, practical exams will be conducted earlier, from November 5 to December 5, 2024. CBSE has also released detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines specifically for these winter-bound schools, which will be closed in January 2025.


The board has also issued subject-wise marks distribution details for Classes 10 and 12. Schools are advised to check this information carefully to ensure accuracy when uploading practical marks, as any errors cannot be corrected later.


According to the official notification, “The Practical Examinations/ IA for class X and XII and the Board’s Annual Theory Examinations are scheduled to start w.e.f. 01/01/2025 and 15/02/2025 respectively.”

Each subject in both classes will carry a total of 100 marks, divided across theory exams, practical exams, project work, and internal assessments.

Following the practical exams, the theory exams will begin on February 15, 2025. The board has not yet released the detailed subject-wise schedule for these exams but advised students to stay updated through official notifications.

CBSE has instructed schools to adhere strictly to the guidelines mentioned in the official notice. "All schools must ensure that the practical exams are conducted within the prescribed timeline to avoid any issues," the notice added. The board has also urged students to regularly check for updates on the official website to stay informed.

Students and schools are advised to use the remaining time effectively to prepare for both the practical and theory exams.
