Kia India has just offered a first glimpse of its upcoming SUV, likely to be the Kia Clavis, with the release of design sketches. This new model, expected to sit above the Kia Sonet in the brand’s lineup, follows the company’s Design 2.0 philosophy and is expected to come loaded with tech elements inspired by the EV9 and Carnival Limousine. The images hint at a bold, futuristic design.

Kia new SUV sketches: What have we seen
The sketches reveal a boxy silhouette with a Carnival-inspired vertical DRL design upfront, a feature that has been spotted in spy images of the vehicle in testing. Moreover, the images also show curved door panels with flush door handles and chunky roof rails, while the rear sports a prominent L-shaped tail lamp setup.

Inside, Kia promises a unique lounge-style interior with futuristic features and a flexible seating layout, something we've recently seen with the launch of the Carnival Limousine. Although powertrain details are yet to be disclosed, there is a possibility that the carmaker might choose to offer the Clavis with similar engine options as the Sonet. It includes the 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Positioned as the first SUV under Kia’s 2.0 strategy in India, the new SUV from Kia is set to bring advanced tech, spaciousness, and elevated safety to the Indian market, the manufacturer said in an announcement.
