YouTube: In today's digital age, YouTube is not just a source of entertainment, but has become a powerful means of earning for millions of people. Every day, thousands of new creators upload videos on this platform but not everyone gets money. There are some terms and conditions for this, only after fulfilling which the YouTube channel can be monetized.
Essential conditions for YouTube monetization
To earn money on YouTube, first of all your channel must join the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). For this, your channel has to meet some criteria.
When you have 1000 or more subscribers on your channel, then you can apply for monetization.
Your channel's videos must have been watched for at least 4000 hours in the last 12 months.
Your channel must follow YouTube's policy. There should not be any copyright or spam related issues.
You get the earnings from the ads appearing on the video through your AdSense account.
How are the ways to earn money?
Earnings on YouTube are not only made from ads, but there are many other ways as well:
Ad Revenue: When ads run on your videos and viewers watch or click on them, you get a part of it.
Channel Memberships: If you have an active fanbase, you can activate the membership feature in which viewers can enjoy extra content by paying a fee every month.
Super Chat and Super Stickers: Viewers can send money during live streams which goes directly to the creator.
Brand Deals and Sponsorships: As your followers grow, companies pay you to promote their products in your videos.
Affiliate Marketing: You can give links of products in your description, and you get commission on purchases made through that link.
Does earning really start after 1000 followers?
Earning does not start with just having 1000 subscribers unless 4000 hours of watch time is completed. But this is the first important step. Even after monetization is approved, earnings depend on how many views your video is getting, how many times the ad is shown and which country the audience is from. The CPM (Cost Per Mille i.e. money received on 1000 views) of views from America and European countries is much higher than that of India.
