Wynne Jones 'vulgar' joke made behind-the-scenes on BBC Strictly is leaked

Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has been accused of making a vulgar joke while he was having his make-up done.

Sources claim the opera singer jested that the folds of his double chin looked like a vagina. He is said to have made the crude comment before the ballroom contest’s launch show. A source said: “It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke.”

No official complaints were made but some staff were less than pleased. The source added: “Wynne clearly didn’t mean any offence, but you have to be a little bit careful these days.”

A source close to Wynne said the joke was self-deprecating and made in a private conversation with a make-up artist. At least one other person was in the room. But the source claimed that the make-up artist was not offended. It came weeks before a public backlash over how he touched dance partner Katya Jones. Wynne was accused of sliding his hands across her waist, which she pushed off.

The video circulated on social media and watchers suggested he had made her feel uncomfortable – but both parties insisted it was just a joke.

A second clip showed the Welsh TV star trying to high-five Katya but getting rejected. Katya later defended the married dad of two. She said: “The hand incident was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It’s actually absurd.

“So let’s focus on how brilliantly Wynne Evans is doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming.”

Wynne, who appears as a flamboyant tenor in the Go Compare adverts, added in a post on X that the pair were “really amazing friends”, saying the high-five was a “running joke” between them.

He said before this week’s Halloween-themed show that he and Katya would continue to be “slapstick” because they still want to make people laugh.

Wynne said: “I promise we will always be fun – we want to be fun for all the family. We want to bring a bit of slapstick comedy, and fun for the kids.”

He said he was looking forward to dressing up as he had never done it before. Katya added: “Well, you will for Strictly Halloween! We get to do some great fancy dress. This year might be my favourite.”
