A Ukrainian spy has been filmed preparing a car bomb, disguised as a manicure kit, that was used on a Kyiv traitor who defected to Russia, claims the FSB.

The Russian security service released footage of the unnamed operative in her 20s who allegedly sent key bomb-making equipment from the Polish capital Warsaw. She is seen preparing to send the allegedly deadly equipment which is purportedly disguised as manicure products.

According to Vladimir Putin’s FSB security service the bomb-making kit was moved to Moscow via Lithuania and collected by a courier. Then it was used to blow up the car of an SBU Ukrainian intelligence colonel - Vasily Prozorov, 48 - who had earlier defected to Russia and assisted the FSB.

He survived the bombing, but was wounded in the arms and legs in the strike on his Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The FSB alleged without showing evidence the assassination bid involving the woman was personally ordered by the head of the SBU, Vasyl Malyuk, and was entirely a Ukrainian intelligence operation. The courier has been detained in Russia.

The woman is seen on a video before she supposedly sent the package. “I packed everything,” she said in a message possibly to the alleged bomber or her alleged SBU curator. “This and that would stay in. I took this [plastic container] out, I’ll use it to pickle fish. All is good. I’m giving away this as one bag, and tomorrow would pick up what you’ve given…”

The courier who brought the package to Russia has been detained by the FSB and filmed in a confession video. He said: “I am a citizen of Russia and Moldova, engaged in cargo delivery and private transportations from [ex-Soviet] countries and Eastern Europe. On 6 April 2024 in Lithuania, I received a cargo from Poland, from a representative of my company.

“The cargo that was to be delivered to Moscow. On 7 April I was contacted by the sender of the cargo. She asked me when the cargo could be picked up, and if it was possible for her person to come and collect it. In the evening of the same day I handed over the cargo to her man who I met at my residential address.”

A day earlier Russia announced it had detained a Russian citizen allegedly recruited by Ukraine who is accused of carrying out the car bombing. The circumstances of his “confession video” - which does not show his face - are unclear, and it is known Russia has recently used torture on detainees.

But he said: “I am a Russian citizen of Russia, living in Ukraine since 2010. In November 2023, I was recruited by the SBU [Ukrainian secret service]. In February, my supervisor reported that the head of the SBU, [Vasyl] Malyuk, had ordered me to go to Moscow and follow a Toyota Prado car located at Korovinskoye Highway, 3, which I did.

“Then the task changed and I was told to assemble a bomb. My supervisor helped me with this. I assembled it using the instructions. And on 9 April, at approximately 2am, I attached this bomb to the bottom of the car.” FSB footage from a CCTV camera allegedly shows the moment the suspect moves away from ex-Lt-Col Prozorov’s vehicle after planting the bomb.

The car exploded when Prozorov got into the Toyota. The detainee could face charges of terrorism and treason leading to a life sentence. Prozorov had boasted that he aided Russian intelligence after coming to Moscow. Recently he trumpeted the Putin regime playbook by telling the media that Ukraine was to blame for the Crocus City Hall concert venue shootout in which 145 died. He said: "I am absolutely sure that there are Ukrainian fingerprints on what happened at Crocus City Hall. It’s a Ukraine-invented pattern of action.”
