Ukrainian war-planners are deploying a massive division strength of 15,000 combat robot soldiers to the frontline against 's troops along the eastern front, in the coming months of deadly warfare. It comes as tentative talks about a ceasefire deal look increasingly shaky and war rages on all along the eastern front.

As Kyiv's troops ferociously battle for their country's survival, this is the largest number of auto-killers commanders have sent into the bloody war, while Kyiv tries to combat Russia reinforcing its military strength in the region. And commanders hope the robots will swing the balance in Ukraine's favour yet again.

Weapons manufacturers have stepped up production lines for the electrically operated cyber-troops as Moscow is stepping up attacks. The armed reconnaissance robots have been in use for some months on the front but this marks a step-change in the high-tech war.

One of the deadliest robots is the Lyut, which is armed with 7.62mm bullets similar to those used by the AK47 assault rifle, the terrorist’s weapon-of-choice. The Lyut has been tried in combat and is designed for surveillance and fire support, offering back-up to assault troops attacking Russian positions.

It can also be used as a stand-off weapon, opening fire on Russian forces from different angles as they are drawn into attacking Ukrainian forces. And it is capable of operating both during the day and even at night.

Sources said Ukraine has massively stepped-up production of the robots at secret factories inside Ukraine, where a number of remote-controlled killers are being developed. The compact robot is usually transported in a military pickup truck and runs on a quiet electric motor for extended operational use.

It has high ground clearance for maneuverability in rough terrain and can function in extreme temperatures as Ukraine can suffer -20C temperatures. Operators control the system remotely from a protected location, reducing risks to personnel as Ukraine has suffered significant losses recently.

A Ukrainian source told the Daily : “Anything that can be done to leverage the war against the Russian invaders is being done and we are beaters in . Much of what is happening is fighting in the trenches and from building to building, basic warfare, but drones and robots can be used to devastating effect.”

Ukraine has been increasingly integrating robotic technology into its military operations to enhance effectiveness and minimise dangers to troops. The Defence Ministry has ramped up investments in robotic warfare, with contract spending reaching £120million in the first quarter of 2025.

Despite advancements, Ukraine has not until this year deployed robotic platforms on a large scale. Challenges include ensuring reliable connectivity, improving off-road performance, and keeping costs low. Additionally, military personnel require more training to effectively use these systems in combat.

Expanding arsenal of advanced military equipment Ukraine has been approving and deploying various advanced military technologies over the past months In total there are about six hi-tech military robots being deployed into battle. The war in Ukraine is now in its fourth year and has cost the lives of around 800,000 Russian troops, with an unknown number of Ukrainians killed.
