Tammy Slaton, the '1000-lb Sisters' sensation, has been showered with praise from fans after hitting a new milestone. The 38-year-old has been a source of inspiration with her dramatic transformation since the show premiered in 2020.
Once wheelchair-bound and tipping the scales at 725 pounds, '' star Tammy underwent bariatric surgery in July 2022 to jumpstart her weight loss journey. To qualify for the surgery, she had to slim down to 550 pounds, which led her to check into a food addiction rehab centre.
Despite a setback where she left the centre heavier than upon entry, she persevered, returned, and achieved her target. By December 2023, she shared that she had shed an incredible 440 pounds and was able to stand and walk without assistance, though she still needs an oxygen tube for breathing.

Nearly a year on, Slaton celebrated another major victory in her battle against the bulge. A sneak peek from the October 15 episode of their TLC series, shared by PEOPLE, shows Tammy at a medical check-up alongside her sister and co-star Amy.
"At my rock bottom, I was weighing about 725 pounds," she confessed. "The last time I saw Dr. Smith was about nine months ago and I was around 420 pounds. He told me I had to lose 100 pounds before my next appointment. I'm extremely nervous."
The TV personality then stepped onto the scales, which revealed she had reached an astonishing 303.8, exceeding her own target. Clearly stunned by the results, she exclaimed: "I surpassed Dr. Smith's goal, my goal, all the goals!"
Tammy described her weight loss as "unbelievable" in a heartfelt video, saying: "Now that I've lost so much weight, I'm able to do things that I never would have been able to do. I think people do take the small things for granted. Being able to cross your legs and put your shoes on... I'm able to sit comfortably on the toilet, I've never been able to do that."
Her remarkable achievement has sparked an outpouring of praise, with one fan commenting, "You are awesome! Such determination! " Another admirer expressed, "I'm so proud of her. She has done a phenomenal job," while someone else added, "So proud of you Tammy. Live your life to the fullest. Wishing you all the best."
Dr. Smith, speaking to the publication, expressed no surprise at Tammy's success, saying: "Tammy has consistently demonstrated her dedication to making sustainable lifestyle changes to maximise the benefits of her surgery."
He added: "I've emphasised the importance of making small, daily adjustments to ensure not only her continued progress but also her long-term success. She's truly committed to her health journey."
Dr. Smith has announced that skin removal surgery is on the cards for Tammy, normally advised after a stable weight period of three to six months.
He conceded, though, if Tammy suffers from "a significant amount of loose skin that's affecting her mobility and contributing to other health concerns," an earlier operation could be in order. Post-consultation, Dr. Smith remarked: "Given this," and concluded, "it makes sense to consider surgery sooner rather than later, even though she will continue to lose weight in the future."
