Plants like violas, pansies and ivy can be bought from for a quick and easy burst of colour in autumn, but there is one common trick people have said that you need to watch out for. influencer Michael, who posts on the platform as @themediterraneangardener, shared his tips for bringing colour to your garden in the autumn.

“I personally love bold single tones like white, red and greens which will catch the eye in a pot and will look equally fab in a hanging basket.” The video, which has been liked over 2,300 times, drew dozens of comments, with many praising Michael for the tips. However one user pointed out a common trick with heather that sellers use to boost their colour.
User J commented: “Are the heathers you planted natural colours? I see a lot of ones that are spray painted and want to avoid those.” Luckily Michael was able to offer some reassurance and a tip to spot these fakes in future. “The ones I’m using are natural,” he replied. “You can generally tell the sprayed ones as the flower is the same colour as the stem.” Meanwhile user JoJo2023 said: “Ohhhh good excuse for me to go to the garden centre, thanks Michael”. Another user added: “Aww thanks for this cause my garden looks sad now all my flowers have died off x”
