Strictly Come Dancing contestant 'not giving his all' as he's partnered with new pro

A body language expert has cast doubts over the chemistry of the latest Strictly Come Dancing pairings, post-launch.

The BBC's glittering showcase on Saturday (September 21) introduced viewers to the 2024 hopefuls which included a mix of stars such as JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, Pete Wicks, Nick Knowles, Sam Quek, and Sarah Hadland. The mood was buoyant as celebrities were paired with their professional dancers, with each duo appearing delighted with the line-up.

Yet, according to body language guru Darren Stanton, things might not be as jolly behind the smiles. Commissioned by Betfair Bingo to examine the partnerships, Stanton pointed out EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas, indicating they may lack chemistry.

Stanton observed: "Jamie Borthwick is one of the other weakest. I think he tries to cover his nerves with humour and sarcasm. I don't feel these two have a great connection, I don't really see it."

He went on to detail potential rapport problems between Jamie and Michelle: "There's a bit of bravado there, but that's part of his nature perhaps as an actor. I do fear he's not willing to give his all to the process and that affects the relationship dynamic and body language, as well as feeling comfortable doing certain things. I don't think the connection with Michelle is as strong. We aren't seeing matching and mirroring or tactile moments", reports OK!.

Social media is abuzz that Jamie's new dance pairing has left some fans feeling nostalgic. One fan lamented: "Not going to lie, I really wanted Nancy to be with Jamie again! But, I'm 100% sure Jamie and Michelle will be amazing."

Viewers fondly recollect when Jamie clinched the win in the Christmas Special dancing with professional Nancy Xu, who was partnered up with Shayne Ward. A nostalgic admirer remarked: "Now we've already seen Jamie Borthwick in the ballroom. He won last year's Christmas Special with Nancy Xu, you'll recall."

Rumours are flying about a possible celeb shortage this season despite Jamie and JLS star JB Gill being former Christmas victors, prompting speculation from one observer: "So two of the celebrities this year have already won the Christmas special, are we running out of celebs now."

Nonetheless, anticipation is high for this season's potential standouts, with enthusiasm pouring in from another admirer: "Celebrities to look out for in my opinion Pete Wicks, JB Gill, Sarah Hadland, Tasha Ghouri, Jamie Borthwick (Christmas Winner) and Sam Quek... Already have a soft spot for Chris McCausland he seems like a really great man who will make this season more special."
