Sir Jim Ratcliffe wields axe again as Man Utd overhaul continues with two more exits

Send Push

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has continued his overhaul of Manchester United with changes to the club's leadership team.

Patrick Stewart, interim CEO, and Cliff Baty, Chief Financial Officer, will leave the club at the end of the season by mutual consent. Stewart will be replaced as interim CEO by Jean-Claude Blanc, until the arrival of former Manchester City executive Omar Berrada on July 13.

Ratcliffe said: “I would like to personally thank both Patrick and Cliff for their support in helping us get to know the club and making us feel welcome and I respect their decisions to now move on as we establish a new management team for the club.”

United believe making the changes now gives them three months to push on with the restructuring of the club's football operations, ahead of the summer transfer window. Former chief executive Richard Arnold and former football director John Murtough have already left United as part of the overhaul led by Ratcliffe and his INEOS team.

In addition to poaching Berrada from rivals Man City, United have also swooped to prise new technical director Jason Wilcox from Southampton, while they are still working on bringing in Dan Ashworth, who remains on gardening leave after his abrupt exit from Newcastle.

Ratcliffe's overhaul off the pitch is likely to extend to United's playing squad this summer with a number of players set to be moved on. The future of manager Erik ten Hag also remains uncertain after a disappointing season and even qualifying for Europe and winning the FA Cup might not be enough to convince Ratcliffe and his peers that he is the man for the job.
