A savvy mum has revealed the tasty meal she swears by which costs less than £2 per person.

Zoe Sullivan and her husband Ben have a dozen children - making them one of Scotland's biggest families. So, when it comes to dinner time it is no easy feat for the parents, nor a cheap one. But the couple, who are parents to Elisabeth, 19, Olivia, 17, Noah, 14, Evangeline, 12, Tobias, 11, Agnes, six, Joseph, five, Florence, two, and two sets of twins - Charlotte and Isabelle, 16, and Leah and Erin, eight - have come up a cheap and easy way to make a tasty dish their whole family love.

45-year-old Zoe and Ben, 49, a former RAF serviceman and now aviation worker, regularly share what life is like having so many children on YouTube - uploading videos almost every day on their channel named . Recently, mum Zoe shared how she makes a sausage casserole that takes very little effort, and works out at around £1.78 per person.

"It's a really easy one that you can just put in the oven and it's done," she said.

On YouTube, the family said: "With no exaggeration this is one of the tastiest meals Zoe has ever devised. So, the sausage casserole is a firm family favourite, really simple to cook and totally delicious." To prepare the recipe for a minimum of four people you will need one Schwartz sausage casserole mix, 450 grams of sausages, one sliced onion, one tin of taco beans or mixed beans,

She then browned three onions and mixed them together in a large dish before adding Schwartz sausage casserole mix, tinned tomatoes with chill sauce, tomato puree, and tins of taco beans. She put the casserole dish in the oven for one hour at 200C. She plated up the casserole on 14 plates and said the dish "went down really well" with her family. She added: "Everybody enjoyed it, really enjoyed which is good. It's a really easy one that you can just put in the oven and it's done."

But the cooking-loving mum says that serving the dish with mash is the hard part as she has to peel 5kg of potatoes to make sure there is enough for everyone. She said: "That's what it's like when you're feeding 14 people and this is why obviously it takes a bit longer for me because I'm prepping for 14 people. f you're just doing it for four it'd be really quick."

Zoe, who lives in Burghead, Moray, said if you want to make the meal even cheaper you could use "normal sausages, not fancy sausages". "I just like those sausages," she added. "They've also got cheaper beans you can get but we just like to get the other ones." Fans of the Sullivan family commented on their YouTube video. One wrote: "Oh Zoe, that casserole looked really really nice you could do it with meat balls you could chop the meat balls in half i bet everyone cleaned the plates."

Another said: "That dinner looks very yummy, will definitely give it a go." One other added: "Lovely cooking vlog - sausage casserole looks lovely, I expect everyone enjoyed it." Another fan commented: "Looks so good. I use this casserole mix too and usually just add peppers, mushrooms and onion too. Perfect meal for a family."

Zoe and Ben didn't plan on having lots of children. They previously said: "It's not something we ever discussed, it just happened. But we really love children. We had our two eldest within 18 months of each other and then there were the twins; and once you’ve got four children, it gets easier from then on."
