Moment Prince William gets overprotective with Kate Middleton in resurfaced footage

Social media users have been giggling at the moment Prince William appeared overprotective as his wife chatted with Olympic hero Ben Ainslie.

The future Prince and Princess of Wales had arrived for the America's Cup in 2015. Wearing fleeces with their names on the back, the pair arrived in Portsmouth where they were warmly welcomed by Sir Ben who was set to skipper his team as they competed for the second day in the opening leg of the America's Cup World Series.

However, a user on TikTok suggested Prince William looked far from happy at seeing his wife chatting with the Olympic hero, who won medals at five consecutive Games between 1996 and 2012 - including four golds. The video was captioned “He’s so silly” and suggested the future heir to the throne was looking jealous and grouchy as they were shown around. In one caption it suggested William, glaring at the pair, “hated it” and “wanted to bring back beheading” as they chatted.

=As they walked around William seemed to be glaring at them. More captions say William was “keeping an eye on them at all times” and wanted to tell Ben “don’t make her laugh, that’s my job”. While Kate and Ben carried on chatting William crosses her arms and glares in their direction. The poster said: “He wanted to take his wife and leave. I have no words anymore.” At the end of the video another man starts talking to William, as the poster hilariously suggested he was “never seen again”.

The Royal Family have endured a difficult first seven months of the year after facing several health scares. However with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis now on their summer break, there will be some much-needed respite for the Prince and Princess of Wales as Kate bravely continues her cancer treatments.

As the King, Queen and other senior royals travelled north for Holyrood Week in Scotland, all eyes are now on the upcoming Balmoral getaway. This year's family retreat is tinged with significance for the mother of three, a leading royal expert pointed out.

Ex-BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: "It's been one heck of a year for the Royal Family so far and nothing would please the King more than to have his close family gathered together in the peace of Balmoral for a time to take stock together, mark the passing of an incredibly difficult few months and look to the future.

“If she does go, I'm sure the whole family will want to surround her with love, support and renewed strength. She, meanwhile, will want to make the summer months as fun and carefree for the children as she possibly can after everything she's been through.”
