Arsenal defender William Saliba was taken off at half-time against Crystal Palace, with Cristhian Mosquera replacing the Frenchman. It is currently unclear if Saliba is injured but Mikel Arteta will be intent on the defender not picking up any type of injury if possible.

Eberechi Eze scored against his former club in the first half to put the home side ahead. A Declan Rice free-kick fell to the Englishman, who guided the ball into the corner on the half valley.

Going into the game there had been concerns regarding the fitness of Gabriel Magalhaes, who picked up a knock in the 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday. The Brazilian missed a number of training sessions in the week but was deemed fit enough to start on Sunday.

Gabriel and Saliba have formed a solid partnership in recent years and are a huge reason why Arsenal are so strong this season. Saliba has already made 10 appearances this campaign but it is currently unclear if he will be fit in time for Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash against Brighton. Arteta will provide an update on the 24-year-old after the match against Palace.

Arsenal were handed a huge title boost on Saturday after Liverpool lost 3-2 to Brentford. The result left Liverpool in sixth and four points behind Arsenal before the Gunners' clash against Palace.

“Disappointing, again,” said Reds boss Arne Slot. “I was hoping for and expecting a better performance. It was far from what we are used to. Even when we have been losing our performances were better than tonight.

“Teams seem have a certain playing style against us, which is a very good strategy to play, and we haven’t found an answer yet.

“You cannot even compete, which we don’t do at the moment – we don’t compete up there – because we simply concede too many goals.

“It definitely also has to do with if you change quite a lot during the summer, then I think it’s not a surprise that it can go a bit like this. But I didn’t expect it to go with four losses in a row, let that be clear.”
