Meghan Markle has 'long way to go' before returning to the UK, claims royal expert

Meghan Markle has 'long way to go' before returning to UK, according to a royal expert.

It comes as Meghan and Harry have been accused of world-beating hypocrisy after the news of their new project with Netflix. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have come under fire from US commentator Lee Cohen over it.

He told GB News: "Harry and his wife withdrew from the Royal Family and savaged its members and made damaging allegations against them. So Harry and the sport of Kings? Harry who doesn't seem to terribly respect the tradition of his birthright and the sport of kings?"

He added: "There is a miraculous irony in this only made possible by the world-beating hypocrisy of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex." It comes as Prince Harry is set to return to the UK for the Invictus Games in less than a fortnight.

King Charles is said to have "left the door open" for an in-person meeting with the possibility of "reconciling." While Harry is set to return home, Meghan will most likely not be coming with him.

Instead, she will be staying back home with their children, Archie and Lilibet, in Montecito, California. This would be one strong reason why Meghan wouldn't be invited to the in-person meeting with Charles. However, even if she was coming, the king may not welcome her presence in fear she would "overshadow the message of the service."

This comes as Charles plans to return to his royal duties following his cancer diagnosis. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun that while Charles may be open to meeting with Harry, it doesn't mean he'll get a "warm reception."

"The King has always kept the door open to Harry, but that doesn't necessarily mean that he would invariably get a warm reception," he explained.

He added: "It will take its time. But clearly the situation has changed in recent weeks beyond all expectations. I don't think it would be too difficult, it depends how you define reconcile. I think there's a long way to go before Harry is bringing over Meghan and the children."

Addressing Meghan, he has called her "toxic" and thinks that "trust" needs to be built before King Charles would consider an in-person meeting with her.

Mr Fitzwilliams added: "Meghan is toxic. I'm not saying the Sussexes would launch any attacks to the Royal Family at this sort of time. But what is very, very clear is that if they want to build trust, they have a long way to go.

"I never thought that Meghan would come over because of the hostility towards her here, but one has to emphasize that it's obvious from the opinion polls. And of course, you'd get a press that was far from flattering, but that is linked to the Sussexes behaviour over the last four years.
