Marathon bars name making comeback more than 30 years after Snickers switch

Send Push

Marathon bars are making a comeback. Known as Snickers since 1990, the chocolate treat is reverting to its old name for a limited time.

Mars Wrigley, which made the retro edition to celebrate more than 90 years of operating in Britain, said: “We’re excited to bring back Marathon for a limited period.”

Mars introduced the bar here in 1968. It was the same as its older US cousin Snickers, named in 1930 after a family horse and famously advertised by Joan Collins in 2012.

Our bars were renamed in 1990 to bring them in line with the rest of the world. Marathon joins treats such as Wispa, Top Deck and Caramac which have all been brought back after time away.

The new bars will be sold at Morrisons until December.
