Fans of Married at First Sight are begging producers to change the rules as newlyweds are forced to stay in the experiment even though they want to leave.
The hit E4 show returned for another instalment on Monday night (October 14) as the remaining couples took part in the third commitment ceremony of the series. However, as some couples appeared to be going from strength to strength since tying the knot, it was clear it may have been the end of the road for other newly married pairings.
Facing experts Paul C. Brunson, Mel Schilling, and Charlene Douglas, the couples shared how they were doing while receiving advice. At the end of their candid chat with the experts, the married couples decided whether they should leave or stay. But if one person decided to stay in the experiment and the other decided to leave - they would still have to stay.
Last night, Casper Todd decided he wanted to leave the experiment. However, his wife, Emma Barnes, wanted to stay. This was also the case for Hannah Norburn and Stephen Nolson, who longed to leave his wife.
However, due to the stagnant rules, the two grooms were forced to give their marriage a go for another week. Seeing the uncomfortable scenes unfold on screen, viewers at home begged for a switch-up.
Heading over to X, one fan said: "So cruel making them stay when they want to leave." Another penned: "I'm getting p****d off at the experts making the person who has wrote leave to stay if the other person wants to stay. LET THEM LEAVE." (sic)
A third said: "Why do these people write stay when you can obviously see they don't work!" A fourth added: "#MAFSUK should change the rules. If one person writes LEAVE then it's LEAVE, no1 should be FORCED to stay where they don't want to be." (sic)
Meanwhile, another viewer fumed: "This show is so predictable, man says I can't trust her etc then ends up staying! This is 1 big fix. If I disliked the process so much, I would have bounced regardless of the rules." (sic)
Despite all couples staying for another week, it looks like it's about to be a turbulent one. According to The Sun, Hannah is about to embark on a "secret affair" with Orson Nurse, 41, who is currently in a loveless marriage with his wife Richelle.
Married At First Sight airs Mondays-Thursdays at 9pm on E4
