Radio listeners have expressed concern for presenter Andrew Marr after he sounded "breathless" live on air.
The broadcaster, 65, fronts the flagship radio show Tonight with Andrew Marr between 6pm and 7pm from Monday to Thursday on LBC each week. The most recent episode was broadcast in that same time slot on Thursday this week.
It has prompted concern though, with listeners expressing worry just minutes into the live broadcast over Andrew's speech. It's been suggested that he appeared "breathless," whilst others said that he sounded unwell at the time.
Alongside a clip of him introducing a guest early on in the show, one listener wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: "Is Andrew Marr alright? @LBC I'm seriously worried." Another said: "Is [he] ok? He sounds like he's struggling."
Sharing their thoughts, a third fan wrote: "Sounds totally breathless and as if he's about to burst into tears. Quite shocking." Someone else tweeted: "Hey, @LBC What's up with [Andrew]? Is he ok? He doesn't sound well at all."
Another fan asked: "Is [Andrew] alright?" Whilst someone else wrote: "Is [he] ok @LBC? Sounds very ill." One listener said in a tweet: "He was doing the same yesterday, getting really out of breath like he was running up a hill or doing some really furious cardio in a limited time window."
Someone said: "Very breathless at start yesterday and today." Another listener reacted: "Please @lbc make sure [Andrew] is ok, it's really unsettling to listen to someone who sounds like they are struggling. It's been two days in a row."
"This is the third time I've heard [him] have a bit of a funny turn on the radio. Hope he's ok. [...] It seems to go as quickly as it comes. Sounds like a panic attack to me, but that is almost certainly projection," one person speculated.
Others questioned whether the situation was related to his stroke just over a decade ago. Andrew had a stroke in 2013 and spent almost two months in hospital. He was said to still be experiencing mobility issues four years later. The NHS states that "speech problems," such as slurring or sounding confused, are among the main symptoms of a stroke.
One person wrote: "Wonder if it's related to his stroke?!" Speculating, someone said: "Not sure one ever fully recovers from the stroke he had." Whilst someone else speculated in a post amid the episode of his show airing on Thursday: "[Andrew] sounds like he's having a stroke on LBC."
Some people however noted that he sounded better shortly afterwards. One listener wrote: "He's sounding a bit better now after cutting to the pre recorded interview. I hope he's ok." Another person said: "Sounds better now!"
