Jodie Comer is shooting a new Danny Boyle film set in Newcastle.

Playing a pregnant character in 28 Years Later, the Killing Eve star has been pictured on set for the first time as production continues in Northumberland. Images obtained by the Mirror show Jodie looking worlds away from her previous serial killer role Villanelle.

Wearing what looks to be a long floral dress and cream cardigan, the 31-year-old film and theatre actress appeared in the zone as she recorded scenes in front of a rocky backdrop with a large film crew on Tuesday. Production staff were spotted offering their support.

The movie is a sequel to 28 Days Later which was a big hit when it was released in 2002. While not much is known about Jodie's character in the film, she has been seen in Newcastle on numerous occasions over the last month, along with Oscar winning director Danny and co-stars Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor Johnson.

The latest sighting comes after Jodie admitted watching old videos of Cheryl as she attempts to master the Geordie accent for her role. She went down a YouTube rabbit hole and stumbled across some of the singer's old X-Factor clips.

Jodie says there was no better prep as she's never been required to master a Geordie accent, until now. "Danny just seems like such a confident, intuitive and intelligent director," she told Elle magazine of her work in the new movie. "The original was so loved, so I’m trying not to think of that too hard. I’m not putting too much expectation on myself."

As well as shooting 28 Years Later, Jodie has also reportedly been tipped to play child serial killer Lucy Letby in a new TV drama, going up against Games Of Thrones star Sophie Turner for the role in the production, which is still in talks, but is thought to be airing on ITV.

The drama will explore the harrowing story of the neo-natal nurse who was convicted of murdering seven babies and attempting to murder six others. Lucy was jailed for life last year. Line of Duty creator Jed Mercurio is believed to be the one behind making of the drama. His works also include ITV's Trigger Point and the BBC's Bodyguard.

Jed is reportedly working alongside hospital consultant pediatrician Dr Ravi Jayaram who exposed Lucy's killing spree between 2015 and 2016, at the Countess of Chester Hospital in Chester.

Speaking about the upcoming TV project, a source told The Sun: "Jed sees this as an important story that should not just be chronicled in a drama but also explored. It aims to try to explain how her crimes could have gone on for so long and how others — particularly Dr Jayaram — tried to act when suspicions were raised."
