ITV Emmerdale fans puzzled over Rose and Will blunder as major twist 'sealed'

Send Push

Emmerdale fans were a little baffled over a scene in the latest episode of the ITV soap.

The truth about newcomer Rose's identity and her link to Will Taylor was revealed after a hospital visit. Not only that, but we learned she was the mother of Will's daughter Dawn Taylor.

Ahead of a family reunion, we saw Will take a mystery phone call before heading to the hospital. It's then that all became clear and we learned why he was there, and why he was visiting Rose after decades apart.

Will explained he'd been contacted by the hospital as Rose's next of kin. Will fumed over this, having not seen her for years since she walked out on him and young Dawn.

Rose claimed to know nothing about it, suggesting it was a mistake or just something she'd forgotten about. Will couldn't understand why he had been contacted and why he was her next of kin, and he demanded the staff remove him from Rose's files immediately, not wanting any further contact.

But something else was bothering viewers after an apparent blunder. The fact that Will and Rose have not seen each other in 20 plus years, fans could not fathom how Rose would have Will's current phone number down as her emergency contact.

While perhaps Will has had the same number all this time and had a mobile phone when Rose disappeared, even though it was years earlier, some fans called this out. Will was sent to prison when Dawn was a child, and he didn't get out until years later when Dawn was older.

So how would Will still have that same phone and the same number, not likely having a phone while he was in prison? One bemused fan posted: "So after years of not seeing Rose, she had Wills current phone number to put as next of kin!"

Another agreed: "So, Will was noted as Rose’s next of kin years ago…probably before there were mobile phones yet the hospital had his mobile number….?" A third added: "New storyline with Will and his ex of over 20 odd yrs ago, he's still down as next of kin so hospital phoned him. How would they have his number from then and it would of been a landline not a mobile. Come on emmerdale writers get it right."

Other viewers were convinced a twist was on the way that could see Will confess he's technically still married to Rose, or perhaps they might have an affair. One viewer posted: "Rose is going to be a problem, I feel it."

Another said; "I swear if they make Will have an affair with this woman behind Kim's back." A third added: "I think Will is married to Rose," as a fourth said: "are we sure she’s ex? She took off and he didn’t have a forwarding address …?"
