'I'm a Man Utd icon - here's why I don't think Erik ten Hag will get the sack'

Manchester United legend Patrice Evra says he is "not worried" about manager Erik ten Hag getting sacked, despite the club's recent struggles.

United have failed to pick up a win in their last three games across all competitions and were thumped 3-0 by Tottenham on Sunday. They currently sit 13th in the Premier League, having picked up just seven points so far this season, prompting major speculation over his future.

However, former United defender Evra believes the club will not pull the trigger, telling Sky Sports : "It's tough. It's tough. I think people keep talking about Ten Hag being sacked but it feels like he has the support from Ineos.

"We are going to have two tough games against Porto away and Aston Villa, and we are going to keep saying if he loses those two games he will be sacked. But from experience, every time he has that game where we say he is going to get sacked, he wins them. So I'm not worried."

And Ten Hag has insisted he has no concerns about his job following United's poor start to the season. "No I am not thinking about this," he said when asked about his future following the defeat to Spurs.

"We all made the decision to stay together as ownership and a leadership group in the summer. We made the decision from after a clear review what we have to improve as an organisation and how we want to construct a squad.

"We knew it will take some time, because of how the [transfer] window went, some players late in like [Manuel] Ugarte, also we have to make some improvement in the organisation, we still have to deal with some injuries, also from some impact players.

"I think we will get better there. We need some time. We are all on one page or in one boat together, the ownership, the leadership group, the staff and the players' group as well. I don't have that concern."

When asked if he feels confident United can bounce back when they take on Porto in the Europa League on Thursday, he replied: "Of course. There is always a new game, it will be a new day. It is obvious you have to learn as a team.

"It can't happen twice in four days a defender can dribble through the whole team twice. You can't make such mistakes in top football. But we will bounce back."
