'I spent £320 on my daughter's birthday party but no one turned up - not even family'

A mum has spoken of her heartbreak after no-one turned up to her young daughter's birthday party - including members of her own family.

Mum-of-five Anber splashed out £320 to give her little girl a special day, getting a bouncy castle and decorating her back garden, as well as providing food and drink for guests. But not a single person showed up - and no one called or messaged to let the family know they weren't coming.

Anber, from Las Vegas in the US, took to TikTok to share her upset, posting a video showing her deserted back garden on the day of the party, along with the food and games on display for the children to enjoy. "Literally cried… spent over $400," she wrote, adding: "POV, when nobody shows up to your daughter's birthday party."

In the 13-second clip, Anber's young son can be seen wiping away tears while sitting on a bench in the garden, "hurt that no-one turned up for his sister". The camera then pans around to show a bouncy castle complete with a slide, a ball pit, pink and yellow balloons tied to furniture, and a banner featuring Yo Gabba Gabba cartoon characters.

Anber then reveals the food she had for the guests - including an array of crisps, platters of meats, cheeses and fruits, as well as food cooking in the oven. She later returned to TikTok to share a follow-up video. "When 2 o'clock came nobody had showed up yet, and that wasn't that big of a deal," she said. "But when it went to 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock… now 5 o'clock and nobody is there I literally started bawling.

"We invited majority family with a couple of friends that had kids. None of them bothered to send a text that they were no longer coming after I just confirmed with them 10am that day. They didn't say anything to me. They just started ignoring my calls, then ignoring my texts… that was it."

She also revealed that the next morning they got "plenty of phone calls, plenty of text messages" - but the damage was done. Anber vowed she will "never have a party again - it's not gonna happen" and said she had ceased contact with those family members.

She was inundated with support in the comments section. "What were their excuses for not showing up? Crazy that every single one of them bailed! I’m so sorry for your babies!" one person sympathised.

A second added: "Nothing makes me more furious than when stuff happens to my kids. I'm sorry this happened to your baby." A third wrote: "I’m so sorry. The family is so inexcusable. Like it takes nothing to show up or give a courtesy call."

And a fourth said: "This literally broke my heart. I'm so sorry this happened, happy belated birthday to her !!!!"

Another person noted: "Unfortunately this happens so often. Instead of a party we do a 'Yes Day' on their birthday. They pick where we get to eat and where we go for the day. We've done shopping, the zoo, water parks etc."
