Brighton ace, and former Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck required oxygen after picking up a concerning back injury during the Premier League clash with Newcastle United. Despite losing their scorer, secured the win, moving to within two points of Aston Villa in fourth at the end of the Saturday afternoon fixtures.
Brighton wrote on X (formerly Twitter), at the time of the injury: "Welbz is stretchered off with what looks like a back injury. Let's hope it's not too serious. [fingers crossed emoji]"
Welbeck's earlier goal marked his fifth of the season, making him Brighton's top scorer so far, and he's yet to surpass six league goals in a single campaign with the club. The 1-0 triumph propelled Fabian Hurzeler's side to 15 points from eight matches, reports .
Chelsea, who have handed Brighton their only defeat this term, could overtake them with a positive result against Liverpool on Sunday.
