Liam Hemsworth also auditioned for the role of Thor, his brother Chris has revealed.

The 40-year-old Australian hunk has explained how both he and Liam were considered for the role of Thor in the 2011 blockbuster. The Marvel superstar admitted he was a "little jealous" when he found out his younger brother was auditioning for the role - which has been Chris’ biggest to date - but says he was never worried about him nabbing the part.

The Marvel superstar explained that the siblings were never being considered for the role at the same time. In fact, it turns out Chris was initially rejected for the role and Liam auditioned after his brother, before Chris read for the part a second time and finally won producers over.

Taking a lie detector test for an interview with Vanity Fair, Liam revealed that he felt mixed emotions watching his brother auditioning for the role he so badly wanted. He explained: "I was told I didn't have the part at that point. So I was excited for him, a little jealous maybe but I was excited for him."

The father of three went on to clarify that he and Liam were "never neck and neck" for the role, explaining: "It was either I was involved, then wasn't, then he was involved, then wasn't, then I was involved."

The God of Thunder actor was then asked whether he was jealous of 34-year-old Liam’s leading role in The Last Song, to which he replied: "No", before adding: "His (Liam’s) life would be very different wouldn’t it?"

Liam met his now ex-wife Miley Cyrus on the set of the 2010 rom-com. The couple dated and married in 2018, before announcing their separation and divorcing in 2020 amidst rumours that Liam had been unfaithful.

Chris was forced to fiercely deny rumours that he was about to quit acting because he was at risk of Alzheimer's disease this week. Although he found out he inherited two copies of the APOE4 gene from both of his parents, which increases the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease, he has not been diagnosed with the illness and will not be retiring from Hollywood.
