Carshalton house fire horror as firefighters forced to rush into burning home to save woman

A woman was rushed to hospital after being rescued from a burning house in London this morning by fire crews.

Firefighters battled the fierce blaze which engulfed half of the ground floor of an end-of-terrace house in Carshalton., south London. A woman was saved from the flames and taken to hospital for treatment.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) received the call at around 10.45am and dispatched four fire engines and 25 firefighters to the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation, reports MyLondon.

A spokesman for LFB said: "Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters tackled a fire at an end-of-terrace house on Pipewell Road in Carshalton. Half of the ground floor was damaged by the fire. One woman was rescued from the building by firefighters wearing breathing apparatus and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service.

"The Brigade was called at 1046 and the incident was over for firefighters at 1122. Crews from Mitcham, Sutton, Wimbledon and Twickenham fire stations attended the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation."
