Arsenal star Kai Havertz's reason for celebration after scoring against former club Chelsea

Kai Havertz pulled out his now infamous celebration when scoring for Arsenal in their demolition of his former club Chelsea.

The German international is in scintillating form for the high-flying Gunners and bagged himself a brace against the Blues at the Emirates, moving Arsenal three points clear at the top of the table.

Declan Rice kick-started the 5-0 route in just the fifth minute before Ben White made it two after the break. Havertz got his first five minutes later when Martin Odegaard picked him out with a sensational ball forward.

Havertz held off Marc Cucurella to chop the ball onto his left foot and fire home to make it three before peeling off towards the Gunners fans and celebrating by shaking his hands by his ears.

The £65million signing from Chelsea has previously explained what his celebration is all about in an interview with his club, posted to Arsenal's official YouTube channel.

In the interview, published back in January, Havertz says: "Neymar used to do it. And recently I was in the national team and one of the guys Marvin Ducksch, who plays for Werder Bremen.

"I was sitting next to him on the coach and before the game, he said to me, 'If you score today do my celebration.' I said, 'OK', I scored, and then I did the celebration [and then it just carried on]."

Havertz added Arsenal's fourth five minutes after the hour mark, firing home after a ball to feet from Bukayo Saka. His celebration this time was more muted. And finally, it was White again who made it five.

Havertz took some time to settle in at Arsenal and came under fire from fans and several pundits, but is now one of the first names on Mikel Arteta's Gunners team sheet.

Rio Ferdinand recently suggested Arsenal supporters should apologise to Havertz for the stick they gave him early doors now that they're reaping the rewards.

"There was huge pressure (when he first arrived)," Ferdinand said on TNT Sports. "When we talk about the character of players and being the make-up of any top player, he has got that.

"He was questioned by a lot of Arsenal fans. When I walk around here and anywhere at Arsenal, I always say to the Arsenal fans, have you apologised to Havertz? They need to say sorry. They need to apologise."

Ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown was one of the doubters. He replied: "At the start of the season we were not sure. I sat on the fence a little bit, but I am glad I did because look at the composure he now has.

"Look at the quality and the movement, he just ghosts into that central position and he's done that quite a few times. His goal involvements recently are crazy. They gave him time, the manager believed in him and he's paying him back now in bucket loads."
