Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the summer with Martin Zubimendi in London to complete the formalities ahead of a move to Emirates Stadium. If everything goes to plan, Andrea Berta will be signing Mikel Arteta's dream midfielder before moving on to the next piece of business.
The Gunners know they need to close the gap to Liverpool who finished ten points clear at the top of the table in the 2024/25 season and Arne Slot's side have wasted very little time in strengthening their squad. The Reds have already completed the signing of Jeremie Frimpong, while Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez are expected to follow him through the door.
It's a considerable statement of intent from Liverpool, who will want to retain their title next season, as well as improve on their Champions League and cup runs. For Arsenal, there's plenty of discussions ongoing regarding signings, but there are also a number of departures that could be sanctioned in order to bolster Berta's transfer kitty.

If Arsenal are to go big and sign the likes of Benjamin Sesko, Morgan Rogers or Rodrygo, then players will almost certainly have to be sold. Football.london has taken a look at five stars who could depart in the coming weeks to line the Gunners' pockets.
Oleksandr Zinchenko - £12.8mOleksandr Zinchenko is one of those who could leave Emirates Stadium and has already been linked with a move to West Ham United. The former Man City full-back played a key role in restoring Arsenal to regular Champions League qualifiers but has found his game time limited as the Gunners push for Premier League title honours.
With Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly operating at left-back last season, the Ukrainian made just 15 Premier League appearances and will undoubtedly be looking for more game time as he approaches the prime of his career.
Various reports claim the Gunners would be looking for a fee in the region of £12.8 million and they should be looking to cash in.
Gabriel Jesus - £27.3mLike Zinchenko, Gabriel Jesus also made the move to north London from Arteta's former club. The Brazilian signed for a reported £45m fee, but injuries have plagued his tenure at Emirates Stadium.
His latest injury means a move this summer is unlikely, but Arsenal really need to try and recoup some of their investment in order to strengthen their forward line. The foward hasn't been able to spearhead the Gunners' attack with just 26 goals in 96 appearances across three seasons.
Transfermarkt values the striker around £27.3m, which would be a relatively decent sized fee given his injury record.
Leandro Trossard - £35mArsenal turned down a reported £29.4m offer for Leandro Trossard in September with Al-Ittihad keen on signing the Belgian. He was a regular for Arteta last season during their injury crisis, but it's fair to say he won't score the goals that deliver the Gunners a Premier League title.
If they can generate a fee in the region of £35m to £40m for a forward who has spent the majority of his Arsenal career playing understudy, they can go big on a new number nine.

The Japan international was almost a forgotten man last season making just one appearance with a knee injury plaguing his campaign. Arsenal have a number of options who can play at right-back with Jurrien Timber and Ben White able to play on that side of defence, it wouldn't be a silly suggestion to see Arsenal try and cash in this summer.
Again, however, like Jesus, his injury problems and fitness may deter interested parties from making an approach.
Karl Hein - £2.56mmEstonian shot stopper Karl Hein spent last season on loan with LaLiga side Real Valladolid, making 31 appearances in the Spanish top flight. He conceded 68 goals and kept just five clean sheets as his loan club finished bottom of the league.
With Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga reportedly on his way to the Gunners, that would push Hein further down the pecking order with the highly rated Tommy Setford coming through the youth ranks.
23-year-old Hein is valued at £2.56m - but every penny counts.
