Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has extended a warm welcome to Arne Slot into the Premier League fray as he gears up for his inaugural season at the helm of Liverpool.

Slot stepped into the role of head coach for the Reds earlier this year, taking over the reins from Jurgen Klopp at Anfield and is set to lead the squad through pre-season training later this month.

Last season saw Liverpool clinch the Carabao Cup and secure a third-place finish in the Premier League standings, trailing five points behind the second-placed Gunners. With Slot's leadership, the Reds are eyeing an elevated performance in the upcoming season.

The pre-season schedule pits Liverpool against Arsenal in the United States, with another clash lined up in the Premier League come October at the Emirates Stadium. Arteta, who's currently overseeing Arsenal's pre-season in Marbella, shared his thoughts on Slot's appointment with ESPN.

He said: "I don't know," in response to whether he anticipates any shifts at Liverpool under Slot's guidance. "That's a question for him and the people that have decided to come here. Welcome to the Premier League. I think he is an exceptional coach."

With Slot's entry, it also marks the end of Klopp's era in the Liverpool dugout, a change that Arteta acknowledges will be felt across the league.

Arteta expressed: "Obviously it is a bit sad to see Jurgen leave because what he has brought to the league, I think, is something unprecedented with his charisma, his way of playing and the moments he has created in this league."
