1000-lb Sisters' Tammy Slaton defended by fans after 'ignorant' trolls mocked her loose skin

1000-lb Sisters fans have been forced to defend Tammy Slaton after cruel trolls criticised her appearance following her incredible weight loss transformation.

The reality star, 37, has managed to shed a whopping 440lb (31.4 stone) since her first appearance on the hit TLC show. The weight loss has left her with a lot of loose skin, which some trolls have cruelly mocked on social media.

In one Instagram post, one person commented: "She looks as if she is melting," while another said the excess skin "looks scary" and urged her to have risky skin removal surgery. However, fans have jumped in to defend Tammy as they slammed the haters as "ignorant".

Taking to Reddit, one fan wrote: "I swear nobody is ever satisfied. Everyone constantly made comments telling her to lose weight. She loses hundreds of pounds and people aren’t satisfied with that either I've read several comments from different Facebook groups about how Tammy looks with lose skin."

They added: "Why is a majority of the internet community so ignorant they probably want her to get to a specific weight in order to quality for skin removal." Another commented: "If they're so concerned with her loose skin, they can pay for the surgery to remove it. Ffs. I hate when people do that s**t. Internet bullies have gotten more and more bold."

A third fan agreed: "Yeah I get sad when I see comments on her appearance now, like damn she just lost like 400+ lbs. As far as I'm concerned she can have as much loose skin as she wants and dress however she wants.

"If she wants skin removal, she can get that whenever deemed medically appropriate." Skin removal surgery does come with risks of stroke, blood clots, bleeding and infection.

A lot of doctors only perform the surgery once a person's weight loss journey is complete, which typically takes about a year after bariatric surgery. Tammy was able to go from 51.4 stone to 20 stone with the help of bariatric surgery.

She recently opened up about her weight loss journey and held back tears as she revealed she had reached her lowest weight since she was a teenager. Speaking in an episode of 1000-lb Sisters, Tammy said: "I was so worried about the number, but in six months I lost over 100 pounds. The last time I weighed this low I was like 15, 16. It's mind-blowing, like, I freaking really did this."
